Week 6 Student Blogging Challlenge

Out at Sea

If you were a sailor or Captain out at sea, what would you do to relax? When all your chores are down, you have nothing to do, would you play a game? If this was me, her are some of the games I would play.

If there we dice I could gather a group and play Yahtzee.
Hang man or noughts and crosses on scrap paper
Set a course on a map
Sleep
Lie in a hammock and day dream
Card games
Spot fish
Cloud gaze
Sit and talk quietly
Arm wrestle
Thumb wars

If you have any suggestions please comment below.

Week 6

Stranded On A Desert Island

You are stranded on a desert island with only your family on the clothes on your back. How would you relax in your free time? What sort of games would you play? You wouldn't want to waste to much energy, or get to dehydrated so what is just right? Here is a list of what I would do:

Hang man or noughts and crosses in the sand.
Building a shelter competition ( Have parents to set requirements and could then use them to sleep in at night.
Check the water is safe and go for a swim.
Climb safe trees.
Write a diary on a leaf with beetle or berry juice
Cloud gaze
Forage for food
Play long jump, leap frog, tag when cooler in evenings
Collect fire wood for a fire
Collect any rubbish on beach that could be useful (e.g: string, shards of glass to start a fire, bottles to collect water e.t.c)
  The List is endless.
If you have any suggestions please comment below.

A Relaxation Task

This week was called "Let's work then play." It was mainly about passing free time, relaxing or with a game. This image below looked relaxing to me, you will see why in my poem below.

Pippalou, Morgue Files

The water crashes over my heads
beating a constant rhythm
I let myself relax
All stress washing away with the ongoing water
I wish to be like this cleansing liquid
Water
Ever-moving with the grace of a dancer
Capable of music, dance and drama
Water is an art
It creates scene,
Weaving in and out
Creating stories before
Our very eyes
If only we could
Open our eyes
And see
Water
For what it truly is
Art
Elegance
A living being

A Reflection

New Horizons

For New Horizons I did Illustrator's Workshop, where we got to illustrate 1-3 pages in a book called Finding Me by Mrs Anderson.
I think the three day's was a learning experience that will be hard to forget. I know I made some new friends, and learnt some cool  techniques for artwork. We also got the opportunity to see a guest artist's work, which were incredibly inspirational.

I think I could do it again, I would put my hand up for a different page to illustrate, and maybe try to complete it sooner. I would try to come up with different ideas and look at the quote's at a new angle.

I found that everyone was really helpful and supportive: for example I had about five people help me draw a big patch of gravel, so I could finish on time.
All the adults were amazing, they were helping us by suggesting new ways of drawing and helped with the pack up. Everyone didn't hold back their ideas, shared them to improve everyone's work, and overall, the work was all the better because of it.

Week Four

Activity 4:

This was an activity for designing our own celebration.

My celebration would be about knowledge. Each year would be dedicated to a different person who contributed to our knowledge today. For example: Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, or Steven Hawking. Each person would be voted on each year. I think it would provide more unity if the whole world celebrated the same person, but it may be more practical to have one different person per country. We could have the vote on the census form, each time their would be a suggestion of different people to celebrate for the following years, and public voted on the one they preferred, majority would win. Children would go to school, as it is celebrating knowledge, and would do a study on the person that country was celebrating each year. I also think this would be a good learning opportunity, as we would  learn about people who contributed to world wide knowledge today.

Favourites

This week was about favourites so I decided to do it on one of my favourite musicians, Bob Dylan. I like his music because it actually tells a story, and leaves you thinking after the song.
This photo is linked to a You Tube clip of one of my favourite songs.

This song is one of my favourites because I think it means that we need chances to be able to properly understand or acknowledge something, but sometimes it is to late to save it. Also, how he says
" How many seas must a white dove sail, Before she sleeps in the sand?"
I think has multiple meanings. White dove as in peace, so as in how many times do we have to try to make peace, before it stays that way. I also think it means, you have to see tasks throughout to the end, not give up in he middle, before you can have a break, both literally and metaphorically.
Another way of looking at is, as he says "must sail" I think he means we must have peace, or our world will collapse around us. War will break out, warring nations will run out of resources they get from each other, battles will block ways of trading, and we will most likely be using nuclear bombs, which will destroy the earth.

One of my favourite quotes by Bob Dylan is,

" Everything passes, everything changes, just do what you think you should do."
It means to me that you can't stop the world going round, evolution, or times changing, all you can do is adapt and do the best you can do under the circumstances. What do you think? Please comment below.
